Dr. Stanton earned his O.D. from the Illinois College of Optometry and his bachelor's degree in molecular biology from Tulane University. He also participated in the Interdepartmental Biological Sciences Program at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the New Orleans Optometric Society, and Uptown Lions Club.

Active in the community, Dr. Stanton has volunteered his optometric services in Tela, Honduras and Santa Cruz de Yojoa, Honduras. He also served on the board of the Illinois Collgege of Optometry Cornea and Contact Lens Society. Dr. Stanton is also proficient in Spanish.
